Noble Strength's Founder: Audrey Rountree
Audrey is co-founder of Natural Hair Culture business created to inspire women to love their natural hair. Curly Culture is the destination spot for the best in hair care, events, fashion and inspiration.
These Hair Stories need to be told because only God knows the countless women Audrey has counseled, nurtured, and encouraged to embrace their curly to coily hair with confidence and an attitude of “Freedom”! This is a freedom she herself achieved in her new natural look. Upon graduation from high school, Audrey realized she had a special gift to style hair. She started transforming friends and family with makeovers. Excited about her destiny, Audrey enrolled in and completed Augusta Technical College cosmetology program, where she received her diploma and graduated with honors on the Dean’s list in 2001.
Audrey wanted to be like every other stylist. In trying to find her niche, Audrey’s pastor, who was her first customer she transitioned to virgin natural hair told her that she should be a natural hair expert.
In 2003 she began to attend the world natural hair show in Atlanta Ga., to gain more education about natural hair care and braid techniques. Audrey was totally inspired seeing culturally different styles that were natural, or “locked up”. She was the first stylist to bring the two strand twist extensions to the Augusta area. Audrey was crowned the “twist queen” and clients from Atlanta, South Carolina, and surrounding areas, came to her just for twist extensions. Many women 10 years ago in the Augusta area were reluctant to go natural for fear of being denied employment or being rejected by family, friends, coworkers or more. Through her education of the possibilities of natural hair care, the natural hair community has grown, and we are finally embracing our natural hair which was once unaccepted, but is now our crown in full of glory!
An encourager by nature, Audrey believes that no matter the texture of your hair, be confident and rock your personal style. Her business as a natural and healthy hair expert is still growing in the beautiful Hammonds Ferry Community at the Edge Salon & Spa in North Augusta, SC.
